Shared economy is a rapidly growing trend and its operation requires a precise technology. Our client was interested in a solution that would enable sharing of various urban means of transport. Primarily scooters, chopper scooters, and also cars. The original plan was to develop an application that would communicate with the supplied device, i.e. with its equipped IoT module and a provided server, but in the end it turned out to be more advantageous to create the server part as well to significantly lower the costs compared to what the scooter supplier could offer.
We have developed a system that uses its own API, MS Azure cloud server, administration website, and most importantly a mobile application that allows easy sharing of scooters and cars via the same account. According to the uploaded documents (eg. driver’s license), the app automatically extends the user’s authorization to use motorcycles or cars. As a result, all vehicles (for which the user is authorized) are displayed on the map in real-time. The system offers the possibility of booking and unlocking the device with a mobile phone and other advanced features that are necessary for this type of service.
For example, users can display information about a specific vehicle (battery status, etc.) or trigger an audible signal to easily find the device. They also see their history of rides and payments. The application works both in the end customer mode and in the mode for employees who manage and recharge the shared devices. Employees can then be assigned tasks directly through the application.
