Project requirements:

British company Modcomp Limited approached MEMOS Software with a request for cooperation in development for one of their customer, Decoma Sybex Exterior System Ltd. Company. Decoma is an important supplier of exterior parts and accessories for the car industry.

MEMOS Software together with Modcomp Limited cooperated on the innovation of the existing purchase order requisition system (called JITCAR) that was no longer suitable to the customer’s needs and requirements. In the existing system, purchase requisitions were raised manually by any one of a number of people at Decoma. The paper requisition had to be passed to a senior manager for authorisation.  The level and number of authorisations required depended on the size, type and costs of purchase requisition. As a result there were often problems with over-spends and accuracy of requisitions.

The new electronic purchase order requisition system for car industry should simplify the whole process and also reduce the time and effort chasing paper requisitions.

Project solution:

The Purchase Order Requisition System is based on Microsoft’s .NET technology and use SQL Server as the database. We had the possibility to use relatively new technologies for us - .NET 3.0 Workflow Foundation and AJAX.

The new solution is integrated with existing purchase order requisition system JITCAR, it is password protected and the user interface is a web browser. The system automatically sends the purchase requisition to the appropriate manager for authorisation. There is no need of paper authorisation process because all the authorisations are realized within the system.

This application will be then used by any member of staff who needs to raise a purchase order requisition and by managers who authorise them.
