Pocket PC’s and Smart phones

Pocket PC devices and Smart phones are being supplied with approximately ten versions of operating system. Basic difference between a Pocket PC device and a Smart phone is that the Pocket PC is a pocket computer with a built-in phone (not all Pocket PC devices have GPRS module used for phoning) and the Smart phone is a mobile phone with a pinch of pocket computer in it. Both devices are based on Windows Mobile operating system. The newest pocket computers offer features which replace office tools of desktop computers as well as of portable computers. The newest devices which are just slightly bigger than mobile phones contain complete contacts evidence, tasks or Outlook calendar events. Devices containing the GPRS module offer complete functionality of a mobile phone as is writing and receiving SMS and MMS messages, phoning, or for example Internet Banking. Communication is supported by IrDa (infraport), Bluetooth, WiFi, EDGE and GPS navigation technologies. Moreover, some devices offer photo camera or a QWERTY keyboard. For the pocket PC’s exists a huge amount of applications which are already installed on the device (for example Mobile Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF Reader, Windows Media Player, Pocket MSN, Internet Explorer etc.) and even a bigger amount of additional applications like ICQ, Skype, Acrobat Reader, MP3 and video players, Total Commander, applications allowing reading of electronic books (so-called eBooks ), IDOS – time tables; applications for finance monitoring, weather forecast, creating of shopping lists, dictionaries, and a big amount of games.
